50mm SuperView 54° 2" Eyepiece
The new Moonfish® SuperView 2-inch eyepieces give spectacular images — making the most of telescopes with 2" focusers. These eyepieces feature 5-element multicoated optics (for crisp images and good contrast) and a generous 20mm of eye relief. Blackened edges cut down on scattered light. Threaded for 2" eyepiece filters, the SuperView gives amazing views of nebulae, star clusters, galaxies, and our own Milky Way. The pop-up rubber eyecup blocks out stray light. This 50mm SuperView has a 54° AFOV.
This new Moonfish® SuperView Serie features a modern optical design that allows you to use them on "fast" telescopes - telescopes with a short focal ratio down to f/5 - with respectable field sharpness (but, please, keep in mind that the exit pupil does not get too large with the long focal length Moonfish® eyepieces, though. For example, at f/5 you may well use the Moonfish® SV32mm, but the Moonfish® SV42mm and SV50mm will render a not-quite-useful exit pupil of 8.4mm or 10mm, respectively. The exit pupil should never grow bigger than your own eyes' pupils can, otherwise you will waste light.)
With their excellent full multi-coating the eyepieces offer very bright images. Not least due to their good mechanical and optical qualities they may well be compared with much more expensive eyepieces.
Nice to look at, these eyepieces will define a new meaning of comfortable viewing. The long eye relief makes them fully suited for eyeglass wearers. Mechanical features metal body with rubber grip and soft rubber eyecups against stray light. The Moonfish® SuperView eyepieces' body is properly blackened inside.
Every optical surface is fully multi-coated! This modern, high-performance coating - along with the proper optical glass substrates of the five lenses - guarantees bright and clear images with an excellent transmission. You will not waste any of the precious light your telescope has collected - the Moonfish® SuperView eyepieces are true Deep-Sky specialists.
One other fine point might be mentioned. When you tighten down the set screw on an eyepiece, you have a chance of marring the finish of the barrel. As shown in the photos, there is an indented ring on our eyepiece where the set screw fits. This allows you to use less pressure on the set screw on the eyepiece and still keep it it place. There were no compromises and a lot of thought going into the design of this eyepiece.
