2x 1.25" Barlow Lens"
You use Barlow lenses to enhance the magnification of any given eyepiece. The Moonfish® Barlow lens enhances the magnification 1.5fold or 2fold.
One example: You have a telescope with a focal length of 1000mm. Your shortest focal length eyepiece has a focal length of 10mm. This renders a magnification of 100x. Using the Moonfish® Barlow lens you will get two further magnifications: 200x and 150x.
You can see that this Barlow lens is extraordinarily versatile. Especially on "fast" telescopes (i.e. on telescopes with a short focal ratio), Barlow lenses are an interesting alternative to short focal length eyepieces. Those eyepieces often have a very tight eye relief and are very uncomfortable to use.
For image quality and contrast, our Moonfish® Barlow lens is Fully Multi-Coated (FMC). It has two lenses and therefore produces high quality images without additional false colour. Of course, the Moonfish® Barlow lens is made of metal, not plastic.
Due to the lense's large diameter you can use long focal length eyepieces without vignetting.
How to use the Moonfish® Barlow lens:
2x: Just put the Barlow lens into you telescope's focuser, then put the eyepiece into the Barlow lens.
1.5x: Unscrew the lower, black anodized part of the Barlow lens (the part holding the lenses) and screw it into the eyepiece like a filter.
Without the lens elements you can use the 1.25" body as an extension tube for 1.25" eyepieces.
